For Drugstore month, because I’m wanting to review all these products I’ve only been using drugstore products to do my makeup everyday, let me just repeat that, everyday! Although I now have quite the stash of drugstore products I still find myself gravitating to certain ones so I thought a little mid-month favourites might be nice.
These are products I’ve been using and loving from the drugstore at the moment.
Loreal True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation (R230,95): No surprise here considering last weeks stellar review. But if you haven’t read that yet (go read it NOW) this foundation is soaked into a sponge & comes with a bloody brilliant applicator sponge to apply the foundation. Light – medium coverage, luminous, glowing finish & a large shade range. Only problem, it hasn’t reached our shores yet.
NYX Micro Brow Pencil in Brunette (R149.00): Finally a beautiful brow product from the drugstore! The packaging is sleek, simple and functional, with a spoolie on one end and the product on the other. It has a very fine nib which makes drawing precise fine brow hairs an absolute dream. Ps, Click’s is currently having a 3 for 2 on NYX products till 24 December & they have an online store. Now’s the time ladies, time to buy yourself some hard-earned self-gifted products.
Essence Make Me Brow in Browny Brows (R54,95): I’ve exclusively been using this brow gel for the past 3-4 months and I never want to purchase another brow gel for over R100. This has ruined me in the brow gel department. This really latches onto all my brow hairs and bulks them up without the crispy feeling and they stay in place all day and the shade is perfection. What more do you want?
Essence Contouring Eyeshadow Set (R47,95): This is a surprising one for me because I’m not really a fan of it on my eyes but one day decided to use it for regular face contour. I obviously only use the darker, ashy, very cooled toned (almost grey) shade for contouring. It can go bad really quickly so I use a very light hand with this product – seriously be careful because you can easily look like you have dirt on your face. I find that bronzing my face and then just using this to deepen my cheekbones adds that little bit extra.
Essence The False Lashes Mascara (R53,95): To be honest I wasn’t expecting to like this – mascara is just such a personal choice and I haven’t found a drugstore mascara that I love, with the exception of the Maybelline Lash Sensational. I like this because it separates my lashes, lengthens and doesn’t smudge on me (even when I don’t set my concealer). I mean the packaging says it’s all about volume but I don’t find that it excels in that area actually but it’s a wonderful everyday mascara.
Well that’s it for today! Look out for another post like this early next week.
Let me know what products you’re enjoying from the Drugstore, I need to know what to pick up at my next Clicks/Dischem haul.
