Every year around this time Woolworths has a Beauty Fair that runs for about two weeks. It started on Monday 19 September and runs till Sunday 2 October. Woolworths very kindly sent over a gift to remind me about the Beauty Fair, but the only way you don’t know about this is if you don’t follow me on Instagram, Twitter or Snapchat. So I’ll give you the details here too.
Okay so about this sale – If you buy two beauty, fragrance or skincare items you’ll get 20% off and an extra 5% off if you buy with your Woolworths card (Credit card). It includes all the skincare, makeup and fragrance brands that Woolworths stock, including pricey brands like Lancôme and Clarins. The Beauty Fair is for online orders too so go wild! This is the sale where I go a little crazy and stock up on a few of my favourites as well as stocking up for my freelance makeup kit.
So I thought now would be the perfect time to give you a lowdown on what’s on my list to buy and what I’ve already bought.
SKINCARE:
Clarins UV Plus Anti Pollution SPF 50 (R395.00): I’ve been watching a crazy amount of Caroline Hirons videos recently, she’s an Aesthetician and YouTuber in the UK who makes the most informative and interesting videos about skincare. Anyway she stresses the necessity of every women wearing an SPF, and needless to say I haven’t really ever worn SPF because I like my skin being tanned so I’ve always just shied away from them. Well no more! I will be wearing an SPF everyday and will report back.
Woolworths Hydrating Serum with Hyaluronic Acid (R530.00): This is one of the products that Woolworths sent over last week so it’s not tailored to my skin exactly but I’m still keen to try it because of the Hyaluronic Acid. I don’t necessarily have very mature skin or dehydrated skin but it’s still worth a try to give you guys a review on it.
REN Resurfacing AHA Concentrate: As I’ve said I’v been watching loads of Caroline Hirons videos so I’m even more into my skincare and trying out different things. This is a chemical exfoliate that’s formulated to resurface the skin and give you a more radiant complexion. It also boasts that the appearance of fine lines, pores and blemishes will decrease during use. Will report back on my thoughts about this one, but it sounds interesting though right?
REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask (R595.00): I received a little tester for this when I bought the Concentrate and I’v heard loads about it so I’m excited to give it a proper go. I used it this week and haven’t seen crazy results but will report back.
MAKEUP:
Clarins Instant Concealer (R300): I’ve been eyeing this for a good year now, and I can finally say that I bought it and it is as good as I was expecting. It has a light consistency but still manages to give great coverage under my eyes. It illuminates the under eye area in a very natural way and it’s definitely one that can be worn on those foundation-less days. Green Coffee is one of the ingredients in this product that reduce the look of dark circles, though they are still visible, well atleast mine are.
Stila Liquid Lipstick in Caramello (R285.00): I’ve seen people raving about these liquid lipsticks so naturally I have to try it. Unfortunately I want the most popular colour, which hasn’t been in stock for about 2 months – boy do I know how to pick them. Anyway I bought another colour and will swap it out for Caramello the minute it lands in S.A.
Stila Perfect Me, Perfect Hue Eye & Cheek Palette in Light/Medium (R360.00): This wasn’t on my list but when I switched the shimmer shadow I knew it had to be mine. I wasn’t mad about the very pale pink blush but after using it yesterday I think I actually like it. As for the eyeshadows, they’re extremely buttery and soft but I have found that they crease really quickly on me. Will continue to test them and do a proper review soon. This palette has four eyeshadows, one face powder & two blush shades and is an absolute steal at R360 (I think that’s the price, it’s not on the online store yet).
Smashbox Step-byStep Contour Kit in Light (R620.00): This beauty was bought for my freelance makeup kit. By now you know I’m not majorly into contouring but this palette as converted me. I’ve used the first, very cool-toned almost grey shade twice now and let me tell you it’s a winner!
Smashbox Pore Minimizing Primer (R465.00): Another purchase for my kit – can you tell I’m stocking up for wedding season? I like a more hydrating primer rather than mattifying which is pretty much exactly what this does along with filling in pores and smoothing texture.
Woolworths Makeup Finishing Spray (R99.00): I hadn’t ever thought of trying this but now that I have I really like it, granted that’s based off of one or two uses but for now I love the spray nozzle. It gives a very fine, even mist that smells of cucumbers and a spa day. I also used it last night to give my skin a little refresh and it worked beautifully.
FRAGRANCE:
Alaia Fragrance (R845.00): You may know, this is already my scent of choice so when I received another bottle from Woolworths I was blown away & completely overwhelmed at the gift but needless to say my love for Woolworths, and this fragrance has grown! It’s a strong musky scent with a hint of floral, but definitely not a light girly floral. Some people prefer this as an evening or Winter scent but I love it so I wear it everyday, all year round. I spoke about it here too.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this very meaty post – haven’t done one of these in ages!
Let me know what’s on your lust list.
