If you read this post or watched this video you will know that I managed to get my hands on extremely coveted L.A Girl Nudes eyeshadow palette which most people are saying is a dupe (closely matched but more affordable version) for the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette. That may sound like nothing to get excited about but when I tell you the price difference it may peak your interest. In South Africa, Urban Decay Naked palette retails for more or less R1200 and this L.A Girl sells for R70. I bought this on sale for R52 at Dischem, which means it cost me less than 5% of what the Naked 3 would cost here.
Obviously because it is cheaper I was not expecting the shadows or the packaging to match up. I don’t actually have the Naked 3 palette, so I can’t compare them, but seeing pictures, they do have a similar shade match.
The Nudes palette shadows do have quite a bit of fall-down and the palette itself can get a bit messy when you swish your brush around in the shadows but the same can be said for the Naked palettes. I have Naked 2 and the shimmer shades have quite a large amount of fall-down so in terms of the quality and pricing, I’m happy with the Nudes palette. The shades have an okay pigment, not the best and not the worst. I will say though that some of the shadows have quite big chunks of glitter which I’m not a fan of.
If you arent wearing rose or purple eyeshadow’s everyday get the L.A Girl palette because it’s an every now-and-then palette, no need to spend over R1000 on the name. If however you love rose and purple eyeshadow’s and they are your everyday go-to makeup look, get the Urban Decay because the packaging is more sturdy, the shadows are a bit more buttery and more pigmented, so it will last you longer.
You can buy the L.A Girl Nudes palettee from Dischem for R70 and the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette from Hashtag Awesome for R1250.
If you buy either, let me know what you decide.
