La Roche-Posay SPF 50+ Anthelios XL Tinted BB CREAM & Tinted Dry Touch Gel-Cream Review

I’ve been testing out these two tinted SPF products from La Roche-Posay for a about a month to do a comparative review for you guys because they’re great products from a wonderful, affordable brand.  So I think it’s worth sharing with you guys, especially as we’re heading into Summer and you’re going to need an spf, DAILY!  I mean you should be doing that all year round, yes even in Winter, but let’s not get into that again.

Firstly, if you haven’t heard of La Roche-Posay, they’re a french skincare brand that has a cult following internationally and recently launched in South Africa.  All their products are formatted with La Roche-Posay spring water and are made specifically for people with sensitive or highly reactive skin.  So that’s a little back story, let’s talk about the products.

Let me start out by saying that both products will give you a very sheer coverage, so if you’re into full coverage products it would be best to wear this under your regular foundation.  Because I like my skin showing through, this is the perfect day-to-day product for me.  It evens out my skin tone, has SPF 50+ and leaves my skin looking healthy & hydrated.  This product will be added after your moisturizer & primer, so I’ll use it after the Smashbox Primerizer and this will be the last step in my skincare routine.

Let’s talk about each product individually and then I’ll chat about their differences and give a few recommendations.

La Roche-Posay SPF 50+ Anthelios XL Comfort Tinted BB Cream (R240) is a great product for those of you with normal to dry skin, if you’re wanting to cover up slight pigmentation or redness and get your SPF in there without wearing a separate product.  This product is infused with the La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water which reduces sensitivity & helps to sooth the skin.  I haven’t had any major breakout’s or skin irritants while using this, so it’ll be great for those of you with sensitive skin.  I use one pump for my entire face and it leaves my skin looking glowing all over so I do find that I have to set on the sides of my nose just so I don’t look sweaty.  You can apply this with your fingertips but it does get a bit grubby- I’ve recently started applying this with a small duo-fibre brush and honestly it’s so much better and less of a hassle.

La Roche-Posay SPF 50+ Anthelios XL Anti-Shine Tinted Dry Touch Gel-Cream (R230) is a wonderful option for those of you with normal to oily skin.  These two are the same in terms of ingredients and level of coverage except this will give your skin a different look.  The texture is almost like a whipped mousse and the application is definitely different. When I tried to apply this with my fingers I just found that it looked patchy and I didn’t feel like I was able to blend it in properly.  I’d definitely recommend using a brush to apply this, it goes on so much soother.  I do like the natural finish that this gives my skin although it’s not completely matte, which I think is good.  I still see luminosity coming through so you won’t look completely flat matte.  Because I have dry skin I found that this looked patchy on my dry areas so I mixed in a bit of the Body Shop Drops of Glow (R280) and that made it a heck load better for me.

So now onto the comparison – I think they’re both really great products for everyday use, they look great on the skin, give you that essential SPF coverage and don’t break the bank.  Both products do sink into the skin throughout the course of the day, but when it comes to cleansing my face in the evening there’s still a lot of product on my skin and I can see a noticeable difference once I’ve taken off my makeup.  Although these are sheer they both do a great job of covering up the redness on my skin throughout the day.  Added bonus, in case you’re not sold yet, they’re water resistant, so they’re perfect for Summer beach/pool days.  Both can also be worn underneath your regular foundation if you’d prefer more coverage.

All in all I’d say that La Roche-Posay have created two wonderful products to suit every skin type and I’d suggest you go out and get this now!  Both products last all day, don’t settle into the sides of my nose or fade on my chin so that’s a win!  You can find La Roche-Posay online at Dermastore & Dischem, online & in store.

I’m super excited to try the anti-shine option throughout summer. I’m always on the hunt for a good tinted SPF that wont leave me feeling like a sticky, greasy mess. Thanks so much for the awesome review! xx

No swatches? What is the point of doing a review of bb creams without swatches?

Useless.
