Let’s talk Drugstore Concealers

This is one of the products people only cotton on to quite late in their makeup journey.  Most people stick to a foundation, mascara and eyeliner and maybe one or two eyeshadow’s.  But once you get introduced to concealer, it’s a whole new world out there!

Trust me, everyone needs concealer, I would even go so far as to say, you need it more than you need foundation.  In short, concealer is there to hide all the bits you don’t like: those dark undereye circles, some pimpley bits, veins on the eyelids, redness, you name it!  Trust me on this, if you don’t have terrible skin, try using a concealer for the little cover ups and letting your skin breath on those regular days.

What are they used for:

Wet&Wild Cover All Concealer (R40) – I use this to cover my pimpley bits or weird veins around the corners of my mouth.  It’s not a great undereye concealer but is good in the blemish department.  And the little wand makes it perfect to dot around the face.

Maybelline Instant Anti-Age The Eye Eraser (R120)  – I didn’t quite understand this when I first tried it and kind of wanted to kick myself for buying it overseas, but having played around a bit more, I’ve found its quite easy!  This is the perfect natural coverup for dark circles, it doesn’t erase them completely but definitely does a good job.  But where I really love it is for its highlighting abilities.  Lately I’ve taken this down the bridge of my nose, chin, cupid’s bow and under the eyes (in an upside down triangle shape) with no foundation, for those effortless days. Basically it’s perfect for weekend makeup!

L.A Girl HD Pro Conceal (R45) – they are not lying with the ‘pro’ in Pro Conceal, this stuff rivals the likes of MAC & Bobbie Brown concealers. It’s got an interesting little brush applicator, which I thought would be weird but it’s surprisingly good.  This covers EVERYTHING! And their shade selection is something else. I’ve seen many people use this as a liquid contour and highlight.  Yup, it’s that good.

If you’ve used these, let me know your thoughts, or give me suggestions on some good concealers you love.

Hi Le’chelle 🙂

Don’t you find the LA Girl one creases a lot? If not, how do you stop it??

Thanks x

It does tend to crease but I set it with a powder almost immediately. You can use something like Rimmel Stay Matte powder/ MAC Studion Fix / Translucent powder.

Hope that helps!
