Current Go To Lip Products

I haven’t written one of these posts in a while but when I found myself wearing the same rotation of lipsticks for the last few weeks I knew it needed a post.  I’m not sure if you can tell by the picture but I’m clearly drawn to the same colour and need to in future be more creative but for now lets talk about my love for these lip products.

The cool thing about this post is that there is a formula for almost every person.  I know some people hate matte lipsticks and others love a good lip gloss and although usually I’d be against those I have ventured out.  Go me!

Starting from the top going clockwise:

NYX Soft Matte Lip Creme in Stockholm (R109): This is a recent favourite but it’s made it into the post because I’ve been wearing it nonstop for the last week!  It is exactly what the packaging describes, it’s soft and matte – what more could you want from a lipstick?  The colour reminds me of MAC Velvet Teddy (which you should all know my undying love for), except it has a little more terracotta than brown.  It’s long lasting without doing that weird flaking off thing that most liquid lipsticks do.  It fades really naturally and doesn’t look like that horrid 90’s dark lip liner trend.

Clarins Instant Light Lip Perfector in 03 (R250): I’m really not sure why I’ve never written about this because it’s been a staple in my handbag for at least a year, maybe longer.  It’s also probably the only ‘gloss’ you’ll ever read about on my blog – I’m really not a fan of sticky lip products!  This has been a soothing dream for my horrible winter lips, but still looks good with a full face of makeup. On my lips it’s a clear gloss and it just makes my lips look luscious and kissable – again, what more could you want from a lip product?

Essence Lip Liner in Satin Mauve (R17):  If you follow me on the Snap you will know I went through a phase where I only wore this lip liner and have in fact bought a back-up one for my freelance makeup kit – the love is real people.  It’s super creamy, goes on easily and wears pretty well.  It’s pretty similar to my natural lip colour so it still looks fine, not great, but fine when it fades.  It doesn’t dry my lips out even though it has a very matte finish.  The colour is my perfect pinky nude shade and it looks like it could be the perfect mix between Candy K & Dolce K from the Kylie Jenner Lip Kits.

MAC Lipstick in Velvet Teddy (R220): If you’re a long time reader of my blog you should know my love for this lipstick.  I’ve worn it in several videos and honestly think it’s one of my favourite MAC lipsticks.  It’s the perfect mix of wearable brown & terracotta that works really well with that 90’s look that’s all over Instagram and Pinterest.   It’s a matte finish but definitely isn’t a MAC Ruby Woo matte, I find that it’s actually quite comfortable to wear.  This lives in my bag & will forever be a favourite!
