August Beauty Favourites

August has been a month of product testing which means a good ol’ lineup of reviews and boy they’re good!  Since we’ve wrapped up another month (where is the year going – yes, like everyone else, I’m shocked that it’s this close to the end of the year) which means list of my most loved products of this month – August.   Slightly late, but totally worth it!

Moroccanoil Extra Volume Shampoo & Conditioner has been an absolute dream – my scalp & hair have been thanking me for it.  I’ve mentioned this before but my scalp is super sensitive and often  has weird bumps and I’ll stop the over-sharing!  These are legit the best smelling hair products I’ve ever used – the scent lasts at least 2 days after I’ve washed my hair, that’s unheard of!  Try it – you’ll love it!

Moroccanoil Treatment is obviously an oil based treatment which you use after roughly towel drying your hair.  And I must say, this is divine and I don’t use that word lightly.  It makes your hair look & feel like it and you should star in a hair commercial.  Enough said.

Maybelline Brow Satin in medium brown is up there with the best high-end brow pencils.  It’s sports a small waxy nib that creates the elusion of ‘brows on fleck’.  I have to say it’s an even better match for my brows than MAC Lingering and that’s saying a lot because my love for Lingering is extensive.

Essence Gel Look Base Coat is all that and a bag of chips.  I ticks all the right boxes – dries quickly, prolongs nail polish and actually makes the next layer of polish look like gel.  Best part – it costs less than R50.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara has been a game-changer and if you wan to know more I wrote an entire blog post about it over here.

Bourjois 123 CC Cream is one for the minimal coverage girls and definitely leaning toward the dry skin side as its super blowy and hydrating.  So if you’re not in for dewy game stay clear of this but it really is beautiful.  My skin is more oily than dry but I love the healthy glow this gives.

Nuxe Rêve de Miel was a complete lifesaver during winter when my lips were crying for moisture.  I tried product after product, of which none lasted more than a day and my lips were back to a crumbling mess.  I can’t go a day without using this, it’s now a firm favourite!  I use it every night and by the morning the top layer of my lips slides right off.  That doesn’t sound good  but it really is!  Big lipped girls, you’ll understand this!

And there it is, the wrap-up of my favourite beauty products for August.

Tell me what you’ve been loving, I always like hearing what other people are using.

[…] you tell if I love it?  I’ve also been using the Thermal Spring Water Spray (mentioned in August favourites) and I absolutely love it, but more on that in a proper Avéne review blog post coming […]
