Downtown Ramen | Cape Town Restaurant

Downtown Ramen | Cape Town Restaurant

Oh friends, let me share a great secret with you… I found a new dinner spot, which also happen’s to be the only one of its kind in Cape Town.  Downtown Ramen has now bumped its way right up to the top of my list.  Ramen consists of Japanese noodles, broth, braised pork/tofu, sprouts, spinach, sesame seeds and optional boiled egg and comes in a huge bowl, and I mean huge!  I could only finish about half of the bowl, so a great spot if you’re starved or share with a friend.  They also have bao, which is sort of like a mini roll-ish dumpling thing filled with pork, beef or tofu.  We didn’t try that one but will definitely be trying it when we go back, probably next week (because I’m officially obsessed).

They have a flipping yummy house white wine, so if you love a good glass of wine, that’s the one to order.  Also such a great vibe, very chilled, great music, friendly service and oh-so-amazing food.  They don’t take reservations, so get there early, to get a seat, or be prepared to wait in a line of Ramen-needing-people.  They open at 5pm so get there soon after!

I fully understand what all the rave was about and can’t believe its taken this long to get a Ramen joint to Cape Town.  But either way, thanks Downtown Ramen, you’ve broadened my very narrow palette.

Let me know if you try it out!
