You guys know I love trying local skincare so when these Aloe Unique products landed on my desk about a month ago I did a little squeal of excitement because my Skin Creamery bits are coming to an end.
Aloe Unique is a new brand, to me at least and they have a simple approach to skincare with the goal of supplying high-quality affordable skincare, body and health products. The basis of all their products is obviously aloe which we all know is a soothing agent.
All their products are produced with Aloe Ferox and not Aloe Vera. Aloe Vera is the well known out-there sister and Aloe Ferox is the brilliant in-the-shadows sister that doesn’t get much attention but certainly deserves it. That’s my explanation on the differences between them but if you want a more in depth expiration, read a little more about that on their site.
They sent me three products (not paid to write this) to try out and so far I’m damn impressed with them. And am always happy to add to my local skincare content.
Aloe Unique Age Defying Serum: I’ve probably been using this for about 2 weeks so I can’t give full review on it, but from what I’ve seen – I like it! The formula is extremely light and sinks into the skin almost immediately. To be honest I haven’t really noticed the scent at all, it’s pretty much neutral which is nice if you’re generally sensitive too overly scented products or if you have sensitive skin. I’ve had more than normal breakouts (loads of life changes – will chat about this a little more in another post) so my skin hasn’t been looking great but I really think this has helped to sooth my skin. And to some extent nurse it back to good health. Added benefit, it’s priced well at only R256 for a 50ml.
Aloe Unique Aloe Gel: I recently burnt my finger (oil, horribly insulated mug & my soft flesh – bad combo) so besides it being ugly and uncomfortable, it’s horribly painful. And I’m also a picker (I’m a pusher Cady, I’m a pusher) so that doesn’t really encourage healing. I’ve also developed some eczema where my engagement ring sits. All this is getting somewhere – I used this on those two spots and it helped to dry them out and almost created a layer over the area. One thing, this doesn’t smell good, it kinda smells like the earth. They say you can use this on your face for a smooth, glowing complexion – not sure I’d want to (the scent) but you could. This goes for R195 and can be used for a honest of skin issues and irritations.
Aloe Unique Aloe & Honey Gel Mask: This is by far the star of the show! I love the scent, the texture, the results. It’s actually taken up home on my bedside table (holy ground) and I use it overnight 2-3 nights a week. This has an almost gel feel, it’s a bit sticky when you first apply it, then it sinks into the skin beautifully and doesn’t create a weird film. The next morning my skin looks and feels more plump. I also don’t feel guilty using this so often because it’s cheap as chips, only R108 for 75ml.
They have a full skincare range and also some body care and sun care things. So if you love supporting local businesses that are environmentally conscious, check them out. Also, ladies on a budget, you’ll love this too!
