My MAC Eyeshadow Basics

My MAC Eyeshadow Basics

MAC is one of the first brands of makeup I bought for myself, not counting those gross lipgloss we all wore in the nineties.  Nineties girls you know what I’m talking about, we just to lather that stuff on like it would actually bring the boys to your yard.  For me MAC still has that luxuriousness about it, that little whisper that says, “you need that shade of lipstick, the one that looks exactly like Velvet Teddy & Twig had a beautiful lipstick baby, you really do need it”.  It is a brand that has cult following and let’s not even talk about the extensive shade selection.

I also know that walking in there can be hella intimidating, not only because of the MAC girls, but because you are surrounded by so many choices, and you can only pick one.  If you haven’t been through this or you just don’t like makeup, imagine it like you’re at the pet store or the SPCA and you need to pick a cat or dog to take home and love, but there are so many that you want to choose.  That’s it, that’s the closest way I can explain it.

Well hopefully by me sharing my top MAC eyeshadow’s it could help you on your journey of love with MAC.  Ps, these were not the first eyeshadow’s I bought, those were in fact much darker shades, like glittery black, shimmery silver and charcoal grey, so let’s not stress about the bad choices we’ve made.

You will notice that all of the above colours are different variations of nudes, Browns or golds.  This is because they are wearable for day and night, which is why all of mine have hit pan (that means you can see the silver pan at the bottom of the makeup).  For probably the last 2 years I have used these shades almost daily.

Let’s start with KID (the shade on KimK’s left hand), which much to my dismay is now discontinued, why MAC why? It’s the perfect base shadow shade for me, and it can double in the crease.  It is matte and velvety, you can build it up a bit but it really just is a perfect transition colour.  CORK (on KimK’s right wrist) is one I’m sure you have heard about on many other blogs and YouTube tutorials.  It’s more of a tan/caramel colour that blends perfectly in the crease with every gold or champagne shade.  Oh sweet Charcoal Brown (close to KimK’s left eye) where would I be without you? This is my beloved eyebrow shade, it’s e perfect combination of ash blonde and brown.  It is the actual colour of my eyebrow hairs.  Oh All That Glitters, (close to KimK’s very famous fake lips) you are loved by many and hated by few.  This colour is great for most skin shades.  It’s the perfect hybrid of pink & champagne shimmer.  Is that not what every girl is looking for? Besides love of course.  When I started buying eyeshadow’s that were actually great for my eye colour and skin colour, this was on the tip of that list and one of the first beautiful shadows I bought or rather LéBoyfriend bought.  I’m talking about Woodwinked, which is a special kind of golden goodness and looks especially good on olive skinned people.  And lastly, Mystery (near KimK’s right hand) which I think they have discontinued, I’m not sure.  But this is great as an eyeliner shade when you don’t want a bold eye.  It’s also good for the trusty brown smoky eye.

These are just a few that you can obviously see have had plenty of use and love, because I’ve hit pan on all of them.  Also, I really do need to credit LéBoyfriend, because he is the reason my MAC makeup collection is so large.  I’m just saying it, he’s the best…. Sorry for the mush?

If is helped you or if you buy any of these let me know.
