MONTHLY MAKEUP MENU: MAKEUP FOR THE NON-MAKEUP WEARER

I wasn’t going to share this because it’s just too simple that I thought you may not want to see it.  But then again, so many of you email or DM me saying how much you love the simplicity of my makeup & some of you are non makeup wearers, so why not.

This is the makeup I wore all through our honeymoon (when I decided to wear any) and I think it’s the perfect makeup for non makeup wearers or those of you having trouble with your skin & just wanting to dial it back on the coverage.  I like to go for basic coverage, glowing skin & fluffy brows. The best part about this look is that it takes all of 5 minutes, can be done in the car or when your husband is rushing you out the house.

I shared my skincare routine with you last week and that plays a big part in this – if my skin looks dull or dry it just doesn’t have the same effect.  I suggest you give that post a read before carrying on with this one, it will help.  Also, if you’re not much of a reader I have video that went live with this post where you can see me applying all of these products.

For my skin I like to mix the Clarins Bright Plus Day Lotion with the Eau Thermale Avène Hydrating Skin Tone Perfector – essentially I’m creating my own tinted moisturiser.  I like this combo because it gives the slightest coverage but mostly I like it because my skin looks radiant.

To conceal my dark circles I love the Clarins Instant Concealer in 02, it adds a beautiful glow .  I like the coverage and the glowy finish it gives – it’s just looks super natural & normal for everyday.  This concealer has a very liquid, but still creamy constancy which makes it easy to blend under the eyes and a little bit on my rosy cheeks & around my nose.

To make my eyebrows look a bit more tame but still fluffy I like using the Essense Make Me Brow in Browny Brows.  It’s perfect because the tiny wand catches all my fine brow hairs, give them a tint & adds a bit of bulk.  This helps them to look a bit more fluffy, but somehow still tame.

For mascara I’ve recently been loving the new Clinique Lash Power Flutter to Full Mascara.  It has a toggle that you use to switch between fluttery or full lashes.  I personally only use this on the full setting but it certainly does the job.  Without my lash extensions my eyes look so bare but this mascara helps with that void, and gives a good amount of volume and length.  I like to wiggle the wand into the base of my lashes to slightly tightline my eyes which does make them clump slightly but with a few more strokes they’re perfectly separated.

Highlighter makes all the difference for this look that would otherwise be very boring.  This Smashbox cream highlighter stick in particular is wonderful because it blends like a dream, gives a natural but still popping highlight and makes my skin look radiant.  She shade is a mix of champagne with a slight pink iridescence.

Glossy lips have really grown on me in the last 2 months and I think these Clinique Chubby Plump & Shine Lipglosses have pushed me over the edge.  These are basically all I’ve been wearing and they’re the only lip product (besides lip balm) that I took with me on honeymoon.  They’re just the right amount of glossy, and yes they are slightly sticky by not at all gloopy.  I really like the pigmentation on these – they’re certainly not opaque but also not too sheer.  I love to wear them alone or layered on top of other products.  The colours I’ve worn the most are Normous Nude & Va Va Va Violet.

Ps, my cute makeup bag is from Zana Products and it’s only R180.
